Purpose of Gas-Tight Containers "GPC-10.0,9/9"

Gas-tight containers (GPC) are the main element of a high-efficiency industrial complex for clean heat treatment of critical parts.

They provide:

  • High surface quality: Parts come out scale-free and bright.
  • Complete elimination of decarburization: Hermetic isolation of the part in a controlled atmosphere with a specified carbon potential guarantees preservation of the original carbon content in the surface layer, and therefore the hardness and wear resistance of the steel.
  • Precision: The ability to precisely control not only temperature but also the chemical composition of the atmosphere allows achieving strictly specified metal properties.

Purpose: To create an isolated space where a specified gas atmosphere can be maintained.

The containers are operated as part of shaft furnaces "SSHO-10,5.22/10" and the gas supply and mixing system "SPSG".

Technological Process of Working with Gas-Tight Containers

  • Loading: Parts are placed into a gas-tight container (GPC).
  • Atmosphere creation: The container is hermetically sealed, and the SPSG system fills it with a special gas mixture, displacing the air.
  • Heating: The container with parts and protective atmosphere is lowered into the shaft furnace (SSHO).
  • Heat treatment: The furnace heats the container according to a specified program (temperature, time). Inside the container, a non-oxidizing environment is maintained, protecting the metal from scale (oxides) formation and carbon loss from the surface.
  • Cooling: After heating, the container can be removed from the furnace for cooling, remaining sealed so that protection is maintained until the parts cool down. To speed up the process and reduce costs, the cooling chamber KOGPK-10,5.22/0 is used.

Economic Aspects of Using Gas-Tight Containers

The use of containers is a cost-reduction strategy for serial and mass production of small and medium parts (bearings, fasteners, tools, hardware).

It shifts the focus from one "smart" and expensive furnace to creating a flexible and efficient production system where:

  • Capital costs are reduced (simpler furnace).
  • Operating costs are reduced: Use of protective gas in a closed container volume instead of its constant consumption to fill the entire furnace.
  • Expensive equipment is used to its maximum (furnace without downtime). When purchasing several containers, you can operate without stopping the equipment.
