The BZV-10.12.15/0.8 water quenching tank is equipment for the final stage of heat treatment of steels and cast irons—cooling (quenching) after their heating in furnaces to high temperatures.

The heating system power is 40 kW. This power is sufficient to reliably maintain the temperature (water, oil, polymer solution) within a specified range, which is important for process quality control.

Purpose and operating principle

Quenching tanks are equipment for a heat treatment shop and are designed for intensive cooling of parts made of steels and cast irons after their austenitization (heating to temperatures of 750–1100°C) in furnaces, for example, in our SNO furnaces. This process, called quenching, promotes the formation of metastable structures in the alloy, such as martensite in steel.

Preheating the quenching medium solves several tasks:

For oil: Reducing viscosity for more uniform and intensive cooling, preventing thickening. Heating is especially critical for quenching oils, as they have an optimal temperature range to achieve the required cooling rate.
For water-polymer solutions: Ensuring solution stability and its cooling capacity.
Reducing thermal stresses: Decreasing thermal shock when immersing a red-hot part, which reduces the risk of warping and crack formation.

Important! The type of quenching medium (water, oil, polymer) is always selected based on the steel grade and required part properties. Our technologists will help you with the selection.

Processed materials

The tanks are used for quenching the following materials:

Carbon and alloy steels (typically cooled in water, oil, or polymer solutions).
Structural and tool steels (cooled in oil).
Cast iron (for castings subjected to quenching).
